Chess in Gravesend
Gravesend Chess Club meets on Tuesday evenings at the Waterloo Tavern on Wellington Street — one of the few Kent clubs with a pub venue, which sets the tone: serious chess in convivial surroundings. The club plays in the Kent county leagues.
If Tuesday doesn’t suit
North-west Kent has a good spread of nights within a short drive of Gravesend:
- Dartford & Swanley — Thursdays, with a junior club running alongside.
- Medway — two clubs on Wednesdays, in Rochester and Rainham.
- Snodland — Mondays, off the A228.
Between the four, every weeknight but Friday is covered — and Petts Wood & Orpington covers Friday. The full county directory, with every club’s night and venue, is on Chess in Kent.
