A New Website for a New Season
Welcome to the new home of Tunbridge Wells Chess Club — and welcome back for the new season, which starts one week today.
A website that belongs to Tunbridge Wells
We launched a brand-new website in the summer of 2025, and we were proud of it. It did the practical things well — it told you when and where we meet, carried the news, and kept the Club Championship ticking over. But we always knew the look and feel was basic and generic, and we promised ourselves that when we had more time we would come back and build something more beautiful, with branding that actually belongs to Tunbridge Wells.
This summer we did exactly that. The site has been rebuilt from scratch, and along the way we created a logo we’re rather fond of: the colonnade gives a nod to the Pantiles, the town’s most iconic spot — its famous walkway reimagined as a chessboard — while the chess King gives us our Royal connection. This is Royal Tunbridge Wells, after all.
Everything you’d expect is still here — news, events, and how to join us — so do have a look around. And if you spot anything that isn’t working, let us know.
The new season starts Monday 7 September
The first club night of the 2026/27 season is Monday 7 September at the Tunbridge Wells & Counties Bridge Club, and it opens with our Annual General Meeting:
- 7.30pm — the AGM. Come and have your say on how the club runs this season. It takes roughly half an hour, and every member’s voice counts.
- From 8pm — chess. Games are likely to get going once the meeting wraps up.
Prefer to skip the club business and just play chess? Come along a bit later — we won’t judge.
New to the club, or thinking about giving chess a try? The start of the season is the perfect time to join, and your first visit is free. See our Join Us page or just turn up on the night — there’ll be a friendly face and a board waiting.
See you next Monday!
