Chess in Sevenoaks

Sevenoaks Chess Club meets on Monday evenings at Vine Baptist Church on Park Lane — entrance via the side door by the car park. It is a welcoming club: newcomers are encouraged to simply turn up and introduce themselves, and it fields teams in the Kent county leagues.

Sevenoaks also serves a wider patch than the town itself. Tonbridge currently has no active club, so players there often split between Sevenoaks and us — see our Tonbridge guide for that choice.

If Monday doesn’t suit

Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells both meet on Mondays, so the alternatives worth knowing are on other nights:

• Maidstone — two clubs, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
• Dartford & Swanley — Thursdays, up the A225.
• Petts Wood & Orpington — Fridays, with a junior session from 6:30pm.

And if Monday does suit but you fancy a change of scene, we meet the same night in Tunbridge Wells — visitors are always welcome.
